A Workout for Visionaries

Dry eyes affect some 30% to 40% of the adult population, according to Eyecare Business magazine. The main culprit? Computer use. To help reduce dryness and eye fatigue, try one or more of these exercises during long stints in front of your PC.

  • Look away from your screen every 30 minutes, and focus for five to ten seconds on a distant object. Then concentrate on a closer object for five to ten seconds. Move your focus back and forth between the two objects ten times.
  • Blink rapidly for a few seconds. Take frequent breaks. A ten-minute break every hour will help reduce eyestrain.
  • Stand up, move around, and exercise arms, legs, back, neck, and shoulders often.
